Write a Research Paper
What kind of paper?
It is up to you! For the research paper, you will be researching a topic of your choice related to a body system. This may be a disease that you have not learned about in class or some interesting fact that can be researched and turned into a paper.
Making a research paper...
The first step to writing a research paper is to brainstorm a topic. What would you like to research about a body system that interests you? Do you want to learn more about diseases that affect your chosen body system? Do you want to find some interesting things about your body system that can be put together in a paper?
Once you have found your topic, the second step is to research your topics. There are many resources that are available to find information on the topic of your choice. There is always the Media Center at school or your local library. The internet also has a plethora of resources, but be sure to check to see if it is a reputable site. Websites ending in .gov or .edu are reputable. Wikipedia is not considered to be a viable source. As you are finding information on your topic, be sure to also record the information needed to avoid plagiarizing. This information includes the title of the book or article that you are reading, the author, the page number on which it was found, the publishing company, the year it was published, and so on and so forth. This information will then be used to quote or reference information found in your paper and to write your Works Cited page.
After researching your topic, the information can then be organized into a research paper. Remember, the first paragraph is the introductory paragraph where you introduce the topic and what you will be writing about in the paper itself. The last paragraph is the conclusion paragraph, which wraps up and summarizes what has been written.
Finished product...
The finished product will have a title, an introductory paragraph, a concluding paragraph, and three supporting paragraphs. Your research paper should have a Works Cited section attached to the end as well.
